"Hits crossed a 1000" - Mohan

Dear Student and Scholar friends,

Hits to our blog-spot crossed the 1000 number mile stone.

What started as a humble attempt to connect known, not so far seen/interacted Scholars and Students, now found out to be a phenomenal success.

My intended purpose through this blog is to provide a platform for all those who want to give expression to their feelings, thoughts, gratitude..

My specific aim is to reach out to those hearts which are fully filled with affection and gratitude..but shy away from speaking out..

Today I am very happy..
Thanks a lot...

With best wishes,
Mohan

" Our Prof Madhu Sir " - Scholars..

"Deep from our hearts"...Students

"A sense of Empowerment" - Dr N Sucharita

To me Madhu Sir, was more than a Professor and Guide. He is my counsellor, my mentor..  With his gentle manner and warm smile he would always infuse that confidence – “yes you can”.  He taught us Counselling as a subject. It was not just subject and theory that we learnt. His presence, voice, gentle look, intonation and common sense bowled every student in the class. As a class we often thought if we could just get a little more of him our purpose of joining Counselling would be fulfilled. He was truly inspiring.

Whenever I come across a challenging case, I often ponder “how would have Sir dealt with it”   I get the clarity and ease to deal the case. Simplicity and brevity were his forte.  There would be no preaching and sermons about do and don’ts. No lengthy ranting.  He had a way to make clients introspect and take the onus to handle their problems.

There were several times I turned to him for courage and support. He never said - NO. He was always there. I’m blessed that he was there to see me through the tough phases of my student period, averting the obstacles that could have otherwise left me dejected. It is to him that I am grateful for successful completion of higher education and also I owe my success in Profession to him.

With his avuncular charm he gave me a sense of being a part of an extended family. Truly, he was a man of character. He never spoke ill of anyone. As every research student is aware there are MENTORS and TORMENTORS in our student period.  While both help you to gain your academic heights only mentors do it without breaking YOU. Thankyou sir! for bringing in that smile when I was sad.  He infused in me the confidence that only a mentor could give with his encouragement. Walking out of his chamber, I loved that sense of EMPOWERMENT.

I should say I am indebted to my father for living, but to my teacher for living well.

"A huge BLESSING to have been associated with Prof. Madhu Sir"..writes Dr D.Sangeeta

Professor Madhu:  THE Main Support Behind My Research

Who wouldn’t know the troubles of sailing in two boats…and that too, trying to balance two equally challenging ones!  Family and Research!!  My M.Phil and PhD both happened after my marriage.

And if it was not for Madhu Sir’s support and guidance, I wouldn’t have sailed through smoothly in these two boats.  I have seen many scholars wait endlessly for their guides but with Sir, I would call him up and tell him “Sir, I’ll be in town from such and such a date.  I need to finish my work within this timeframe.”  Not once do I remember that Sir has ever turned down my request!  Thanks so much for being there for me Sir whenever I needed your help and guidance.

I have known you since the past 20 years and it is a huge time enough for any person to change.  But, you, Sir, haven’t changed a wee bit! And, that is your greatness!

You are the sole reason behind my doing something worthwhile in Psychology (Pl read EMMRC)!  Thanks Sir, for reposing the confidence in me and giving me a chance to work on this!

Sir, you are the best thing that any aspiring scholar would ask for and would get!  It has been indeed a great pleasure and even more, a huge BLESSING to have been associated with you.

Here’s wishing you from the bottom of my heart, all the goodness in the world, all the health, wealth, happiness and good luck that you will need to start the second innings in your life!

Dr D.Sangeeta

"Pf. Madhu Sir. . . the most remembered person" - Sharmishta

Dear sir,

To me you are going to be one of the most remembered person. In fact you were the first person i knew in the field of psychology, when you came to take classes in GITAM Institute of Foreign Trade, GITAM University. I consider that to be the first point when i thought to take up Psychology as my career. Your warm hearted and  down to earth personality has really made you very special.

Wishing you and your family the best for entering into the next phase of your life.

We'll miss you. You are one of a kind and will not be easily replaced. Enjoy your retirement sir.

Regards,
Sharmishta

"Prof. K Madhu. . the biggest reason why I lead my teaching life the way I do. . ." - Prof. Ashok Karri, GITAM

I did my Masters in Psychology out of curiosity and having nothing better to do…That changed my life in more ways than one – Prof. K Madhu was probably the biggest reason why I lead my life (Teaching) the way I do.

In those long gone days of 1982-1985, Prof. Madhu by his effective teaching, quiet demeanor and kindly insistence on quality, inspired and motivated us to do better; but the real impact of his personality on me was during my tenure under him for a UGC Major Research Project and subsequently his mentorship for my PHD Thesis. The long evenings- discussing the thesis’ details, the rather complex task of trying to propose a Model of Absenteeism based on the data collected, endless cups of tea, with his friends near the Outgate and the actual writing of the thesis, shaped my thinking and what I am today. And the best compliment I received and that I treasure is when somebody said that I teach like Prof. Madhu and not only that, that I conduct myself like him!

He gave a start to my career in GITAM by encouraging me to go out of AU. For all the things that Prof. Madhu meant to me, I am deeply grateful and I wish to thank him.
